Amazon has added 2,500 full-time employees in its second year as it builds up its retail operations
Amazon’s retail operations are expanding with the addition of 2,100 full- and part-time staff at its online retail empire in Canada.
The Globe and Mail first reported on the announcement Monday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
In addition to the 2,000 hires, Amazon will now be hiring another 2,400 full- or part-timers this year as the company expands its reach beyond the United States and the U.K.
The move to hire 2,600 employees at its Canada operation comes just days after Amazon announced that it will hire 4,000 workers for its U.S. operations in a bid to attract more employees to its U,K.
The new hires are part of a strategy to “drive a more aggressive retail culture” at the company’s Canadian operations, which will focus on “delivering a more comprehensive, customer-focused experience.”
Amazon’s U.T.O. operations are in Toronto and Vancouver.
Amazon employs 2,900 people at its U.,K.
